Dressy Thanksgiving Outfits

Dressy Thanksgiving Outfits

Hi ladies!!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend!  A couple of weeks ago, I posted a couple of casual looks I was contemplating for my family's casual Thanksgiving dinner.  Today I am talking about a couple of options for a "dressy casual" dinner.  I love the idea of a warm, comfy sweater dress, but added a vest and scarf to help camoflauge any bulges after eating too much!  The other smocked dress looked nice and stretchy for a big dinner!  I paired the dress with a sleeveless trench and layered necklaces to add some polish.  I also thought this dress would be great as a maternity dress or tunic.  Thanks so much for reading!!

Colors of Autumn

Happy Friday everyone!  I love this color and faux leather jacket for the fall.  Burgundy and cognac complement each other perfectly and this scarf blends all the best colors of autumn in one accessory.
I purchased this faux leather jacket at New York & Company last year and I have gotten a lot of use out of it.  I wasn't sure I would actually wear it, being a stay at home mom, but it is easy to care for and adds instant polish to any outfit.  I was careful to choose one without too much quilting, zippers or pockets and that has very clean lines.  A couple I tried on definitely had more of "Michael Jackson" feel, but the simplicity of this one won me over!

Blush, Grey & Ivory

Hi ladies!!  Blush and gray has to be one of my favorite color combinations so I was really excited when I pulled out this forgotten pink tee from the bottom of my dresser drawer.  This varsity stripe cardigan has some serious warmth and these corduroys from LOFT are so comfy!  I believe they are on sale now and LOFT carries a couple of different colors.  The off white color makes them perfect for winter.  I do wish I would have sized down because they do tend to stretch a little throughout the day, but I still love them!

Sick Day

Hi ladies!!  My littlest two girls were a little under the weather last week, so when I did finally get dressed, this is what I wore.  A soft flannel, cozy (washable) scarf and a vest for extra warmth was a practical outfit when snuggling sick kiddos.  These "cash touch" scarves from Lands End are so soft and warm and come in so many colors.

When my girls starting showing signs of a cold, I began taking two of these NYR Organics vitamins in the morning and I never got sick!  I also put a couple of ounces of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar in 8 oz of water with a little bit of maple syrup and that also seems to stave off any colds!  I've also heard of putting hydrogen peroxide in your ear, but I've never tried that one.  Hope these tips can help someone as we enter cold and flu season.  Stay healthy!

Sporty

Hi ladies!  I think part of being stylish is not jumping on every trend that passes, but picking and choosing which trends are right for you, your body and your lifestyle.  For instance, I think rompers and jumpsuits are sooo cute on other ladies, but not only do I look hilarious in them, but also they are just not practical for me.  However, the tennis shoe trend, I jumped on immediately!  Comfortable and colorful- perfect for long walks with the kiddos!
This skirt from LOFT is so comfortable and so versatile too.  I have worn it with a faux leather jacket for "date night" and a nice blouse for church.  Thanks so much for reading!!

Florals & Stripes

Hi ladies!  I love the idea behind print mixing, but it can be tricky to pull it off without looking like a clown!  I find it is easiest if the prints are neutral colors.
Also, these high rise black jeans from LOFT are definitely my favorite pair of jeans, but they seem to be fading.  I do wash them inside out, but do you have any tips to restore the black color??

Thanks so much for reading!!

Casual Thanksgiving

Casual Thanksgiving

Hi ladies!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend!  We didn't have a whole lot going on which always makes for the best weekends!!

I created this collage with Thanksgiving in mind.  We celebrate with my Mom's side of the family the Saturday after Thanksgiving and the atmosphere is a bit more casual, so a unique cardigan thrown on over a basic tee and skinny jeans is definitely appropriate for the occasion.  On Thanksgiving Day, we usually get a little more dressed up, but we will get to that later in the week ;-).  I know it's a little early to be planning for Thanksgiving, but it always sneaks up on me, so this year I'm planning far in advance.  These cardigans from Modcloth are also perfect for your annual fall festivities - apple picking, visiting the pumpkin patch and cozy weekends at the cabin.  Also, lightweight layers are perfect when traveling to see family and friends around the holidays.
How far in advance do you start planning for the holidays?

Leopard & Red

Hi!  I created another fall look with some basic pieces that most of us have in our closet already.  A solid color blouse is great for all seasons and a black blazer can add polish to any outfit.  Leopard is also basically a neutral because it can really go with anything.  Thanks so much for reading!!

Plaid Scarf

Hi ladies!!  Hope you all had a great weekend!  I am loving this weather.  I compiled all of my fall basics into one outfit for this post.  An "autumn-hued" handbag, black jeans, a tunic length button down, ankle boots and a plaid scarf.  This scarf is so warm and looks great with vests, stripes, leopard and pretty much any solid color blouse, sweater or tee.  I added some sparkly earrings too because it is such a basic outfit.

On another note, our bible verses for last week and this week are as follows:

"Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will exalt you."  ~ James 4: 10
"Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good."  ~ Romans 12: 21
