Sweater Dress

It started to warm up here just a tad so I wore this sweater dress and blanket scarf for the majority of the day.  This dress is not conducive to nursing, but I wore it while we were at home and had some friends over.  The blanket scarf adds so much warmth and was perfect for hiding some "imperfections" on my post partum body.  The colors were also too pretty to pass up especially since it was 50% off.  (I believe it is still on sale too)

When I was putting this outfit together, I kept thinking how nude accessories would look so much better!  It's not in my budget to purchase any new shoes or bags quite yet, but I am on the hunt because I really think they would work with pretty much any color and in any season.  I linked a bunch of nude accessories below.

Also, NYR Organics is offering 30% off our gorgeous gift sets!  Click on the "Natural & Organic Beauty Products" link for more info!

Children's Christmas Books

In honor of Christmas being 4 days away, I decided to write a post on some of my favorite children's books about Christmas.  I love the advent season, but sometimes it is easy to lose focus on preparing our hearts for the arrival of Christ, and instead concentrating on what material items we want, getting the best toys for our kids and obsessing over food and gift giving.  While I of course want the advent season to be fun for the children, I also want them to be reminded that no toy will fulfill their desire for Christ and more often than not, most of their new beloved toys (and clothes) will be tossed aside in a couple of months.  These books have helped me to get that message across, but I would love to hear your tips as well!

A Crippled Lamb by Max Lucado.  A Crippled Lamb is a sweet story about a lamb who was born with a disability and always felt left out and left behind.  At the end of the book, he learns that God has a special place for all of us and to trust in God's plan instead of our own.

The Three Christmas Gifts by Jennie Bishop.  This book is about a princess who has become spoiled and does not appreciate her gifts and does not remember the true meaning of Christmas.  Her parents decide to only give her three special gits in attempt to cure her of her selfishness.  She begins to realize what it is truly important and that "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35)

24 Christmas Stories to Welcome Jesus, Ignatius Press  This collection of stories contains shorter stories that a younger child can sit through and that can also keep an older child's attention.  There is one story to read on every night of advent as the children await the birth of Jesus.  The stories vary from retelling of the biblical stories to modern day lessons of unselfishness.

Angel in the Waters by Regina Doman. This book is not a Christmas book, but it is great for anyone who is expecting a baby.  The pictures detail the baby growing inside the mother's womb and reassure the child of their guardian angels.

The Christmas Story.  These books are great because they are personalized.

Blazer & A Choker

Sometimes, the more simple the outfit the better!  I purchased this blazer a couple of years ago at Goodwill and although I could tell it was a quality item, I hadn't heard of the brand and it wouldn't have guessed it would be over $150 new!  I don't think I would be able to spend that much on a blazer, however, there is definitely a difference in shape, fabric and quality than some of my other cheaper blazers.  Also, I am loving this strappy camisole from LOFT.  It has more of a blousey feel so it looks a little dressier than your average tee or cotton camisole.  It also drapes a lot nicer and doesn't cling to your stomach.  Lastly, it is hard to see from these pictures, but this choker adds a bit of polish to the look as well without feeling "too trendy".

Teal Dress

I bought this scarf last year and am not surprised to still see it all over pinterest this year as well!  It's variety of colors, warmth and festive print makes it perfect for fall hues, fall and winter temperatures and Christmas festivities!  I also love this cognac faux leather jacket I purchased last year.  I was hesitant to buy one because I wasn't sure how much use it would get, but I wear it all the time!  A lot of spills can just be wiped off and it is a great layering piece that can obviously be removed if the kids to decide to paint or do something messy.

Black & White

Although fall is my favorite season, I do love winter as well!  I used to despise the snow, but now that we live way out in the country, have a garage and a fireplace and since I don't have trudge out early in the morning to go to work, winter is much more magical to me!  I love having hot chocolate made for the kids when they come in playing in the snow.  However, getting them ready to go out in the snow is harder than I ever would have imagined!!  Ha!

Anyway, these pictures don't really do this poncho justice, but it is really cute and 50% off right now!  New York & Company also has some festive dresses, jackets and tops that would be perfect for your holiday party!  I linked some of my favorites below!
